After buying my honda civic hybrid in Dec 2008 i have commuting to work and adding about 350 miles a week to my new civic. My average miles per gallon for the first 1000 miles was 37 MPG. After 1000 miles, the miles per gallon has increased to 43 MPG. Now with about 4000 miles, I am averaging a commute of 46 MPG per tank of gas.

The total mileage for the trip was about 800 miles. Driving up north at an average 83 mph netted me about 36 MPG. Driving down at a rate of 70 mph, netted me an average miles per gallon of 40 MPG. Not bad considering having to drive up to mountain passes, driving normally and not consciencely hypermiling.
I am very happy with my new travel mate: Honda Civic Hybrid Generation 2 (HCH II) I found many online forums that are very helpful in understanding my HCHII.
