Hitting 5000 mile mark on the Honda Civic Hybrid II; Carpooling to work 38 MPG on the Civic

When carpooling with my coworkers on the 710 freeway, the 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid II (HCHII) is getting about 38 MPG according to the mileage computer. I suspect that it actually more like 40 MPG.  If you read my previous posts, you should know that i carpool with 3 other friends. I estimate the overall weight addition would be about 500 extra pounds. Read more...

Currently my little Civic is reaching 5000 miles. Its interesting, the HCHII needs to use 0-20w oil. The oil has the viscosity of water or milk. Other than buying oil direct from Honda Motor, the only other choice is Mobil 1 0-20W.  Either type cost about $5-7 per quart. The only difference is Mobil 1 is synthetic and has a change interval of 10,000 miles, which fits my HCHII just fine as it is estimated that the HCHII needs its first oil change at 8000 miles.

I look forward in giving my HCHII the first oil change! in about 2 months! YAY!
