Just ordered my new folding bike: 2009 Dahon Speed D7

I bought it so i can put it in my Civic Hybrid trunk and go biking with it at work, beach, and at my girlfriends place up north. I was researching this bike along with all the other 20inch folding bikes on Amazon.com and found it to be the affordable yet high quality bike around.  I ordered it and am waiting for it.

 My Kent 16 inch folding bike was good but i needed a larger wheels to go beyond the 10-15 mph speed. Hence i sold it months back.

Can't wait!

I havent been using my Kent folding bike for a while and decided to bring it out and oil its gears. I oiled my other bikes as well as they were rusting on my paito.  The gears on the Kent were still oiled and so I filled it up with some air and took it for a spin around the block. It was fun to bike down the street with the wind in my face and a compact bike under my legs. 

My neighbor was biking too. So i catch up with her and we rode to McDs for a soda and fries. --- yes --- healthly food for all the exercise we are doing going down hill.

With scooters all the rage, it would be great to find a faster electric scooter to get to point A to the point B and point C which is for food. I found a neat scooter which can go 20 mph from the box rather than moding a chained version to go fsater. Really cool and all functions built-in, such as AC power charging, motors in the wheels . and long lasting batteries. The Go-Ped ESR750H seems to have all that in order.

Well its been commuting and more commuting.  I have joined a carpool at my work place in Long Beach California.  After clocking about 450 miles a week, and using about 3 gallons of gas in one day, about 60 gallons of gas a month.

After testing out several folding bikes locally and from friends, I bought the Kent Ultra Light Magnesium Compact Folding Bike. It was for about $200 and was the lightest folding bike available for that price range, others were more expensive for a twenty something pound foldling bike. I tried the Schwinn folding bike but it was close to 40 pounds versus the Kent's 23 pounds. However the wheels on the Schwinn were 20 inches versus the Kent's 16 inch tires affected the weight and maximum speed of the bike. But I love the light weight and lost cost of a sub $200 bike.

I still commute 35 miles one way with my car. However, I have thought about commuting by train to Long Beach with has got my interest in a compact bike to bring to work, school, and around town.  Here is the situation, parking in Long Beach is scarce, expensive, highly ticketed, and difficult to find. My coworker got a $35 parking ticket on Ocean Ave and 2nd Street, during his morning latte run for the office.
